Description
The Magic Behind Macbeth
For the “Macbeth,” we selected a pair of Bone Conduction Drivers as the dominant drivers during the initial design phase. Our goal was to harness the unique capabilities of these drivers, particularly in the mids to upper mids where human ears are most sensitive. This frequency range is crucial, as it encompasses the majority of instrumental and vocal sounds. By focusing the bone conduction drivers in this region, we ensure that users can fully appreciate the rich, detailed, and immersive sound that these drivers can produce.
Building upon this foundation, we meticulously plan and reinforce the entire driver architecture to cover a full frequency range from 10Hz to 45kHz. To achieve this, we incorporate Balanced Armature Drivers and Electrostats, which fill in the frequency ranges not covered by the bone conduction drivers. This multi-driver approach is carefully engineered to work seamlessly and harmoniously, forming a complete ecosystem without phase cancellations or redundancy.
“FCR” Technology
Forté Circuitry Relay System
The “Macbeth” IEM is built with a fully customized FCR system, giving Forté Ears absolute control over every electrical signal and relay. This level of customization allows us to fine-tune every aspect of the system, despite the inherent challenges and complexities involved.
The “Macbeth” features a sophisticated 5-way crossover system integrated within the FCR. This system ensures that each driver operates at its optimal state within a specific frequency range, eliminating redundancy. By treating the driver architecture as a cohesive ecosystem, the FCR meticulously configures circuits, arranging components such as resistors and inductors to either stimulate or constrain each driver’s operations. This approach guarantees that every driver in the “Macbeth” serves a precise purpose, contributing to the overall sound profile.
A key component of the “Macbeth’s” FCR system is a discontinued vintage early 1990 copper inductor. This rare and valuable component, combined with the core system’s Dual Bone Conductor Drivers, creates an exceptionally organic and life-like representation of the midrange and voicing. The result is a rich, immersive sound experience that captures the true essence of musical performances.
“Diablo”
Exclusive Customized Bass Driver
One of the standout features of the “Macbeth” IEM’s architecture is the exclusive “Diablo” driver, a technology unique to Forté Ears. Developed to meet specific demands for deeper sub-bass extension and realistic bass presentation, the “Diablo” driver is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in audio engineering.
During the prototyping phase, requests for an IEM with deeper sub-bass extension and realistic bass led Forté Ears to experiment with various implementations. To meet this challenge, We ultimately negotiated with Sonion to create a fully customized Balanced Armature (BA) driver to our exact specifications.
The result is the “Diablo” driver, a highly capable BA designed exclusively for Forte Ears, dedicated to the lowest frequencies. This driver is engineered to extend down to 10Hz, delivering bass that is both organic and visceral, yet agile. The “Diablo” driver is part of a 5-driver array in the “Macbeth,” providing a natural and expansive bass experience akin to the resonance of an organ in a concert hall.
When combined with Forté Ears’ intricate Forte Circuitry Relay (FCR) system, the “Diablo” driver excels at producing captivating ultra-low frequencies. This synergy ensures seamless integration with the midrange, preventing any bleed and resulting in realistic, natural bass that enhances the overall listening experience.
“ARC” Technology
Acoustic Resonance Chamber
The third core technology that sets the “Macbeth” IEM apart is the Acoustic Resonance Chamber (ARC). This innovative feature is designed to enhance the sonic characteristics of the IEM, setting a new standard in acoustic excellence.
The “Macbeth” is built using a precisely calculated resonance chamber, allowing the drivers, especially the dual bone conduction drivers, to interact with the chamber and maximize their sonic potential. The Acoustic Resonance Chamber (ARC) is meticulously
designed to create space for harmonic vibrations, adding unique character to the tuning.
This concept, widely accepted in the design of small speakers and musical instruments, is implemented in the “Macbeth” to create an integral part of its beautiful sound. The ARC allows for a richer and more dynamic sound profile, enhancing the natural resonance and depth of the audio.
By leveraging the principles of acoustic resonance, the ARC in the “Macbeth” ensures that the drivers operate in harmony with the chamber, resulting in a sound that is both immersive and true to the source material. This innovative approach not only enhances the overall listening experience but also distinguishes the “Macbeth” as a masterpiece of audio engineering.
Handcrafted Brass Plated with18K White Gold Faceplate
To create the perfect overtones and maximize the vibration efficiency of the bone conduction unit, Riccardo specifically included the faceplate material in the tuning considerations for Macbeth. After testing various metal materials, he ultimately chose brass plated with Rhodium as the primary materials. This combination of brass and Rhodium merges the excellent acoustic properties of brass with the stability and aesthetic appeal of Rhodium, ensuring optimal performance of the bone conduction unit during vibrations. This not only enhances the low and mid-frequency responses, providing a clear and detailed sound image, but it also presents rich and layered sound details.
The faceplate is handcrafted by experienced artisans using traditional lost-wax metal forging techniques. With precisely designed molds, the forging process achieves high precision in panel size and shape. Additionally, modern cold enamel techniques, commonly used in jewelry craftsmanship, are applied to enhance the glossiness of the brass plated with Rhodium, giving it a smooth and polished surface. The diverse color choices of cold enamel create dazzling artistic patterns.
The designs on the faceplate are inspired by the props used in the opera “Macbeth,” featuring a crown symbolizing power and ambition, and a dagger representing guilt and fate, all set against a red backdrop that symbolizes a sea of blood, regret, and murder. Finally, a red enamel coating symbolizing blood is applied to the panels, blending a luxurious and artistic appearance.
Unique Packaging Design
To highlight Macbeth’s rich artistic atmosphere, Forté Ears designed the entire packaging in the style of an opera collection. The set is equally rich in accessories, including an embossed leather storage case that offers a soft, smooth texture and excellent protection. Additionally, it comes with a metal nameplate and a printed mirror cleaning cloth, enhancing its luxurious and unique presence. For ear tips, the package includes Eletech’s Baroque ear tips, providing users with an extremely comfortable fit that conforms closely to the ear canal, enhancing sound clarity and naturalness.
For the cable, it is equipped with a custom Eletech earphone cable, featuring a four-strand high-purity 7N OCC copper construction. This brings neutral and highly accurate sound details to the earphones.
Sound Signature
Macbeth possesses an exceptionally rich amount of information and ultimate sound resolution, with soundstage performance and transient response surpassing typical in-ear monitors. Its high-frequency overtones are delicate with outstanding overall transparency. The high frequencies are bright and smooth, offering sufficient brilliance without being harsh; the midrange vocals are warm and rich in detail without being overly sticky; the low frequencies are powerful and deep, neither muddy nor excessively overwhelming, providing a refreshing sense of rhythm.
Macbeth’s most striking feature is its remarkable spatial performance. Especially in genres such as symphonies, operas, and original soundtracks (OSTs), Macbeth enhances the sense of space, allowing each detail to have ample room to breathe. The bright instruments and clear vocals enable listeners to distinctly perceive the arrangement and spacing of various instruments, with particularly outstanding stage height representation.
Whether it’s serious classical music or popular music, Macbeth delivers highly realistic sound effects with its excellent transient response and ultra-wide soundstage. The smooth and seamless transition between midrange and low frequencies brings rich vocals and full, natural instrumental textures, perfectly presenting the most authentic essence of the music.
